Cutthroat, A Journal of the Arts, announced the winners of the 2011 Rick DeMarinis Short Fiction Contest, and my story, Playing with Trains was a finalist. Good news! Even better news will be when that story gets published someday.

I have a new story published: Slapstick. It’s a piece of high satire about a musician in a symphony orchestra. Well, really, it’s about class, but I’ll let you figure that out. It’s appearing in the December 2011 issue of FortyOunceBachelors, a great new funky lit mag from some cool people in Austin Texas. Check it out and let me know what you think!

I’m joining the brave not-so-new world of Web 2.0 with WordPress! The virtues is that now the web site not only looks better, it accepts comments, has buttons for facebook, twitter, rss feeds, the works. I can write pithy posts like this one about writing news, and you can receive them by subscribing. Please subscribe! Don’t worry–there’s no way I’ll fill your mailbox since that would mean I’d have to write lots of posts, and I have just so much pith.
