Wow, crazy fall! Where do I begin.
“Thank you for sending us ‘Smelt.’ Congratulations! We have accepted this story as a THE NEW GUARD (http://www.newguardreview.com/ ) Machigonne Fiction Contest semi-finalist.” It went on to say it didn’t win, but it will be coming out in The New Guard’s next issue. Yay! Smelt is a story about a man trying to come to terms with a distant father while netting smelt from Lake Superior.
Aways a bridesmaid: I was nominated for another contest. Alas, I didn’t win. Still, Chasing Fire will be in American Fiction Volume 14 (http://newriverspress.blogspot.com/). Chasing Fire is a coming of age tale about a boy hanging out with a group of boys who like to follow fire trucks.
And now available for pre-order: “Recognize: The Voices of Bisexual Men is a collection of short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, personal narratives, critical essays and visual art produced by 61 cisgender and transgender bisexual, pansexual, polysexual and fluid men from the United States, Canada, Chile, India, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.” Including me! http://biresource.net/recognize_bimensbook.shtml My story is called Hot, Safe, Fun, and it’s about a HIV prevention guy doing testing at an STD clinic.
Add in Hunting in the Dark, my flash novel coming out in October from Bartleby Snopes (http://www.bartlebysnopes.com/huntinginthedark-excerpt.htm), and that makes four stories coming out this fall!
Whew! I’m tired!
