On April 8, 7-9pm, I’ll be hosting another Literary Locavore. Last time, in December, we had 30 people come out to the wonderful little Moon Palace Books. This time we’ll be at the Nicollet Diner at 15th Street and, you guessed it, Nicollet, a couple blocks from the convention center.
Why by the convention center? Because we are talking the weekend of the AWP Conference! In case you aren’t a writing conference nerd like me, the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference is a fantastic annual mecca for writers that moves to a different city each year. As part of the conference there will be readings going on all over town. 11,000 people need things to do! It’s one of the best parts of the event, that and the book fair, but I digress.
I think we should do our part to showcase local authors for our out of town guests, not to mention local publishing. So readers, mark your calendar!
Writers: I want to open up the process of picking authors for the reading. Criteria is simple: you had a book come out recently to read from and sell and that the book be set in Minnesota. We’ll have maybe five authors, who will read from their book and then read something new they are working on. We’ll have a table for books, but you’ll need to handle your own sales. No charge or percent to participate–this is just for the love of literature!
That’s all there is to it. Interested? Drop me an email! firstname.lastname@example.org
